We are a Sydney based rug care facility looking after Eastern Suburbs, Southern Suburbs and Inner West rug cleaning. We don’t clean carpets, upholstery or tiles, we only clean rugs and we do it well!

Identifying Rugs

There are several different aspects of the rug that need to be looked at in order for us to identify where your rug came from and the methods we will need to use so that we can give it the safest clean. Some people think that the design is the main differentiator of each rug, while this is a contributing factor, the construction of the rug also plays a part. Your rug may be machine-made, hand-knotted, flat-weaved or some other method, we take note of this and adjust our cleaning to best suit your valuable rug.

Evaluating Rugs

There are some rugs that are worth quite a lot. Rugs that have been kept in good condition and have artistic merit can fetch thousands of dollars! Unfortunately, though, most rugs bought today and in the last half of last century will not be appreciating in value, in fact some consumers probably paid more for their rugs in the 60’s and 70’s than they are worth today. Additionally if the rug is in poor condition - it looks old and dirty - then those factors can greatly devalue your rug. That’s not to say something can’t be done though, with proper professional restoration and repair we can bring the value of your rug back up again.

Rug Care

There is a myth out there that you should never vacuum your rug, however this is just not true. Depending on the way the rug is being used around 80% of the dirt that your rug collects can be particulate matter, when these sit in the fibres of the rug they act as sandpaper when moved around with use and time. A regular vacuuming will ensure that your rug is kept free of this dirt and reduce the chances of this dirt becoming embedded in the rug fibres. Just be careful of the rug fringe when vacuuming, by vacuuming parallel to the rug end you can best keep the fringe safe.
